Mission Statement:

The Monrovia Public Library is the Community Relations Center, providing informational, educational, cultural and recreational resources and programs to support lifelong learning for people of all ages.

In support of this mission, Literacy Services helps adults acquire the skills and knowledge they need to be successful family members, workers, and citizens. The major areas of support are one-to-one and group tutoring.  The program emphasizes building upon basic literacy skills such as reading, writing, and speaking English, computer skills, and health and financial literacy.  For the adult learner, the program provides a path to a better quality of life, ending the family cycle of illiteracy, and building self-esteem and community awareness.
